City Center Delray is the product of a partnership between Murphy Development Group and The Banyan Group. The partnership is a combination of a local Delray Beach real estate developer (Banyan), and a nationally recognized and powerful real estate developer (MDG) with additional expertise and understanding for the care and respect necessary for rehabilitation of Historic property.  It is the perfect combination to take on such a locally important project.

Murphy Development Group, led by John T. Murphy, have developed several million square feet of various projects throughout the United States. Noteworthy projects undertaken by the Murphy Companies include several high-rise residential, office, hospitality and mixed use projects valued in excess of $1.4B USD.

The Banyan Group was recently founded by Steven Michael, a Delray Beach resident for 20 years and a real estate developer, and manager who comes from a generational real estate development family also originally from Chicago.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is our Vision?

We wanted to create a right-sized, tasteful, and noteworthy development suitable for such an iconic
site. We wanted the community to be proud of the Project and we wanted it to stand out in a way that
invites all our residents to visit. We believe our project will achieve this.

2. Will we save Docs?

We have never considered demolishing Docs despite unfounded rumors and inuendo. Docs is a part of the fabric of our community and its presence will remain an integral part of our vision for this amazing corner.

We have searched exhaustively to find just the right group to operate Docs. We have had numerous requests from restaurant organizations from all over the country to lease and run Docs; all willing to pay the highest rents in the city for the best corner in town.  However, money was not the deciding factor.  We wanted to make sure that whomever we allowed to breathe life into Docs would do so in a manner that would recapture the character, history, and feeling of the Docs of old.  We have finally decided on a local group who was willing to do that and agree to operating a family restaurant serving simple American fare and offering breakfast Lunch and Dinner.

3. How long will construction last?

We expect construction to last about 1 year.
